European countries received a different box-art. The Pricedown typeface for the logo was also introduced here, which Rockstar has continued to use for the next installments in the series. It contains game artwork by Rockstar and black, mostly even lines separating them into smaller images.

Grand Theft Auto III's cover art was the first to introduce the box art style which the series has become known for. The box art is composed of individual pieces of official Rockstar artwork separated by thick black lines, which individually create a netting of boxes, wrapping around the main Grand Theft Auto logo centered on the cover. This style was then used by Rockstar Games in all of their future installments (with the exception of Grand Theft Auto Advance (2004)). Grand Theft Auto III's (2001) box art featured the different artworks of the game spliced together in the background with the game's logo in the foreground, which used the Pricedown typeface. But as Rockstar Games began its first foray into a three-dimensional Grand Theft Auto game, they employed a box art style that has become a trademark of their series.

And while that has been a mostly positive move, it has also caused bottlenecks as some employees said they found themselves waiting to communicate through middlemen or felt like multiple people were in charge. More producers have also been added to keep track of schedules. Some of those changes include restructuring the design department to keep overtime under control, changes to scheduling, converting contractors to full-time employees, the ousting of several managers employees saw as abusive or difficult to work with, new mental health and leave benefits, a “flexitime” Policy that allows staff to immediately take time off for every extra hour worked, and a promise that excessive overtime will not be required for Grand Theft Auto VI, unlike the company’s major releases in the past. Despite this, the game’s world is said to remain large, with more interior locations than any previous Grand Theft Auto game.Īll of this comes as part of a report about Rockstar Games’ attempts to reinvent itself as a more progressive and compassionate workplace, with Bloomberg citing interviews with more than 20 people who work there currently or left recently.

Rockstar Games‘s plan now is reportedly to update Grand Theft Auto VI over time, adding new missions and cities on a regular basis, and hopefully leading to less crunch during the game’s final months of development.
